20170507 Left distal tibia fracture
Abstract
While riding a CRF150 motorcycle at low speed, the front wheel lifted, beyond its CG and flipped. The motorcycle landed on the rider's left ankle. The rider was treated on the scene for pain management and transported to Stanthorpe hospital where an xray was performed and an oblique comminuted fracture of the left tibia was confirmed. The rider was subsequently transported to Toowoomba hospital for Open Reduction Internal Fixation surgery to the left tibia. This was performed 20170508 and the patient was discharged from hospital on 20170509 with instructions for nil weight-bearing minimum 6 weeks.
