This Privacy Policy describes how the "Advanced Translator Tooltip" extension handles your data.

The extension needs to handle the following data to function:

• User-Selected Text: The text you highlight on a webpage to be translated.
• User-Provided API Key: The API key you provide for Google Gemini or OpenAI services.
• User Settings: Your choices for AI Provider, AI Model, API Endpoint, and custom prompt.

2. How We Use Your Data

• User-Selected Text: This text is sent directly to the third-party translation API (either Google or OpenAI, based on your selection) to get the translation. This text is never stored or collected by the extension itself.
• User-Provided API Key & Settings: Your API key and settings are saved locally on your computer using the chrome.storage.sync API. This allows your settings to be preserved and synced across your devices if you are logged into your browser. Your API key is never sent to any server other than the official Google/OpenAI API endpoint you have configured.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your API key and settings are stored securely using the browser's built-in storage mechanism. We, the developers of this extension, do not have access to this data.

4. Third-Party Services

The extension interacts with the following third-party services based on your configuration:

• Google Generative Language API (Gemini)
• OpenAI API (GPT)

Your use of these services is subject to their respective privacy policies.
