Nectar Sleep Mattress - The Most Honest Review You Can Find Online (2019)
About Nectar Sleep Mattresses
Nectar is a bed in a box brand that took the industry by storm in 2016, with its fantastic sleep trial and warranty deal and its incredible value. This isn't your grandma's memory foam from the 1970s. This bed was designed to deliver a balance of support and comfort that never makes you feel like you've fallen down a hole - a squishy-mattressy-foamy hole..
Now here are some quick reminders for you. Hopefully, we can help you save some money.
Okay, so the first thing we're going to talk about is the construction.
On the top, the cover is a cotton in tensile blend that feels soft and durable. So you may not have heard of tensile before, but it's this eco-friendly textile and it's made from wood pulp, and bonus - it's resistant to bugs.
The top feels plush because it's quilted to a one-inch layer of gel memory foam and it feels really plush and cool. Ah, yeah. I love that. There's a zipper there too if you want to remove it and do some spot cleaning.
So altogether, Nectar is 11 inches tall and has 3 layers of foam, in addition to the inch quilted into the cover. So underneath the cover, we have three inches of the company's proprietary LushFoam to relieve your pressure points and there's gel in it to carry away heat.
So, next is one and a half inches of more responsive, adaptive, high core memory foam. If you have a bed with a softer comfort layer, a transition layer can help you keep from dropping straight through the soft layer and crash-landing on the firmer support layers. So this layer eases you into the bottom layer, which is the High Vegetable Base Super Core. That's five and a half inches of high-density foam to give the bed a supportive foundation that'll help you keep your spine straight. And all of the foams are certipur.us certified, which means that they pass rigorous testing to meet safety requirements, which is good.
But okay, that wraps up the construction portion of the mattress. Now let's move on to the feel of the mattress.
How does that make you feel? Sleepy?
So we rated the Nectar about a 6 to a 6.5 on our firmness scale with 10 being the firmest and that falls into our medium firm range that can accommodate a lot of sleepers. Now it's important to remember that firmness is subjective and will depend a lot on your individual body and shape. Now just for reference, I'm about a 150-pounds, so for someone who's a little heavier than me, it might be a little less firm because they'll sink through just a little bit more.
Now for somebody who's a little lighter, they may feel it to be a little bit more firm. Again, it's a lot based on your body shape, type, and preferences, you know what you like, what's firm to you and what soft to you. Now just for reference, I'm about a 15O-pounds and that's a little on the lighter side, but those who are about my weight and lighter may just feel that it's a little bit more firm than I described it, but either way, it's still very versatile, but anyway, let's look at responsiveness.
So, this is the foam that's going to wrap around all your curves and prevent pressure from building up. You're not going to experience much balance on this bed at all. Check that out. For most people, this beds going to have one of those classic deep hugs that memory foam is famous for. If I push really hard, I can start to feel that base layer that's a bit firmer. This is the layer that will keep your weight from hitting the bed frame and it also will give you really great support and that helps keep your back lined up and help you reposition.
So I said, this bed has a firmness level that works great for a lot of different sleeping positions, but let's take a look at them one at a time.
First, lying on my back. As I settled into the memory materials, I start to sink. I can really feel it conforming to the small of my back and around my shoulders. It feels really uniform which is great. In some competitive memory beds, your lighter parts of your body can actually stay on the surface while you're heavier core sinks in, but that's not the case here. but that's not the case here. I feel like my whole body's cradled here. Alright, now switch over to the side. Lying on my side, I can feel my hips and shoulders slowly sink into the second layer of memory foam too.
Weight is concentrated into a smaller area in this position and it can sometimes help the stress and the joints in my hips. It kind of helps alleviate that. Now I'm not sinking a ton into this because I'm on the lighter side, but people of average weight or heavier, , heavier body types will sink in a lot more. That being said, I don't feel any pressure really, which is important.
Lying on my stomach, I want to wait, settle in, and see if my hips dip lower than the rest of my body. Now if that happens, my back will arch and you really don't want it to do that. You want to stay in a neutral position. I don't feel myself dipping here, but someone who is substantially heavier and sleeps exclusively on their stomach may want something just a tad firmer. So, I think most of you will really like the deeper hug experience of the Nectar, and for me, it feels really good on my joints.
Now that being said, if you're someone who likes sleeping on just the very top of the mattress and you're significantly heavier than me, you might want a different feel. Now if you're worried about being able to move around on a memory foam mattress, I can tell you now that I had no problems moving around and changing positions, it was all fine for me.
Alright, so now we're going to talk about some more preference based items, starting with cooling. So most of us can agree that memory foam is pretty comfortable, but waking up in a pool of sweat is not. Just thinking about that is so gross, but more modern memory foam beds are adding different technologies in them to make them more cool and regulate temperature. For this bed, there's a couple of cooling features like gel in the memory foam that keeps heat from building up close to your body.
Also, the cover is breathable, so that lets hot air escape. Now as far as temperature is concerned, I think most people will feel comfortable and won't have issues with overheating. I know for sure I definitely didn't myself. So just from laying in it, I can feel that there's no bounce, which should mean that there's no motion transfer, but let's go ahead and test my theory.
Look, so first I'm going to show you what happens when I press into the bed. Now I am going to walk on. Nothing is happening to this cup. Well, this mattress is so good at motion transfer.
Now I'm going to jump into the bed normally. This bed does not have a whole lot of motion transfer, like pretty much zero motion transfer. So, if you're a light sleeper and you get like bothered or awakened by your partner moving around the bed or your pet jumping onto the bed, then this is going to be a good mattress for you.
Anyway, so we're gonna move on to edge support. When I lie on the edge of this bed, I don't feel like I'm about to roll off. There's some slight compression but that's kind of expected from an all foam bed. I feel exceptionally well supported for this kind of mattress. Now, edge support may not be a priority for you, but those who share their sleep space want to maximize their bed surface area.
Alright, so before I wrap up this review, I want to share with you guys some points that also may be factors you want to consider that'll help you decide whether you want to get this bed or not.
So, first of all, it has one of the industry's longest trial periods - that's 365 nights, a whole year to see if you like the bed or not. That's crazy, crazy good! And if you don't like it, they'll come pick it up for free, and you also have a forever warranty on it. What?
The next thing I want to tell you about is that Nectar Mattresses are shipped to your door for free. They come compressed in a box and they're really easy to set up.
We're good, but if you prefer, you can also purchase the optional white glove delivery service, so you can have a professional come in and install it for you. That's pretty sweet.
Now, who do we think will love Nectar?
Memory Foam lovers. If you're in the market for a Memory foam bed that really gives you that classic hug feel that wipes away pressure points, then this is a bed you'll want to check out. Several crucial updates to the traditional materials should keep you from feeling stuck or too hot. We also think it's great for people who love an exceptional value. If you've been shopping for a memory bed in a retail store, you already know they can cost thousands, but Nectar’s online sales model allows them to deliver a truly great Memory foam experience for a fraction of the cost you find at the store.
And lastly, people who need a motion isolation. As you read with my test, there's like no motion that transfers across the bed. Even if your partner gets up and jumps up and down next to you, you might just sleep right through it.
And there you have it. Thank you so much for reading this review. Don't forget to check out the coupons above and use the link provided there to get the best deal ever on Nectar Sleep Mattress.
How To Choose The Right Memory Foam Mattress for You
Thinking about buying yourself a new memory foam mattress? Not sure what to expect?
Traditional mattresses and visco-elastic mattresses are totally different. Some people love those differences, and others don't.
Here's what you can expect to notice with your new foam mattress.
1. You sink into the material.
Visco-elastic foam, or memory foam, is heat sensitive. When you lay down onto your bed the material condenses and the air surrounding you disperses to other part of the mattress. Some people compare this feeling to sleeping on clouds; others say it's like a little nest surrounding you. Many think that it allows for optimal comfort, causing them to move less. Opponents of memory foam mattresses say that it constricts them, making movement in the night difficult.
2. There are no pressure points.
The most common complaint about traditional spring mattresses is that they cause discomfort on the points where the body meets the springs. The pressure from the springs pushes against that of the bones in shoulders, hips, backs, and knees, squishing the skin in the middle and causing people to toss and turn. Because of the dense, viscous material memory foam is made of, these pressure points cease to exist.
3. You can't feel your partner moving as much as you used to.
Think about that commercial in which the man jumps on one side of the bed with a glass of red wine undisturbed on the other. Because memory foam is heat sensitive, there is a space between you and your partner to isolate movements. In spring mattresses, each movement is transferred to your side of the bed.
Best-Selling Memory Foam Mattress?
Nectar makes the best selling mattresses in the world, and the Memory Support is a great example of a Nectar mattress which is both supportive and luxurious. The generous layer of memory foam in the mattress relieves pressure points to significantly reduce tossing and turning during the night, and also allows you to sink into the mattress for a luxurious sleep.
Nectar have used their Posturepedic Ultra upgraded spring system so that the mattress contours and adapts to your body shape and supports into the lumbar region and across your shoulders.
What Are The Advantages of Shopping Online For a Mattress?
A huge advantage of shopping online for a new mattress is the significant price savings that can be found. Online retailers typically do not have to pay expensive overheads for store space and sales people. This means that savings can be passed onto the customer in the region of hundreds of dollars or more.
Cost can be one of the most important factors of buying a new bed, especially when entire sets can cost thousands of dollars - particularly for more advanced technology such as the popular memory foam options that are now available. The savings on such an item online can be very significant.
It's also important to ensure the mattress is going to be of high quality and there can often be a huge difference in quality between buying a bargain priced mattress from a store and buying a discounted brand name one online. If you insist on getting the cheap one then you can end up suffering in the long run with sleepless nights. Another benefit of going with the brand name is the guarantee that usually goes with it - if anything goes wrong you can return or replace it. This is not always the case with a 'bargain basement' one.
Buying online also gives you the option of comparing reviews and special offers on selected items all from the comfort of your own home. Many online retailers also offer free shipping anywhere in the continental United States and no sales tax to states outside the one they are registered in.
Saving the sales tax and shipping alone can be worth several hundred dollars when buying a high quality one. This is one of the best tips on how to buy a mattress online.
If you are still confused about buying online, many places will offer personal customer service to help you figure out which one is going to be right for you. Just like at a normal physical retail outlet where you can find a salesperson to assist you with any questions.
Some online retailers even operate 24 hours a day giving you the comfort of choosing where and when you shop.
Common Mistakes Made When Purchasing a Mattress
One common mistake when buying a new mattress is to go for one that is too small to provide a decent night’s sleep. Sometimes, investing just a little more in a mattress that offers adequate space for you to sleep comfortably can transform the quality of your sleep.
The size of your new mattress will obviously depend on certain factors, such as the number, weight and height of people sleeping in the bed, as well as the space available in the room. You can, however, try a simple test to determine whether your mattress is big enough for you:
Lie down on your back on your mattress with your head on your pillow, and your hands behind your head. If you share your bed, get your partner to do the same. If your elbows either touch your partner or go beyond the edges of the bed, your mattress is too small for you to sleep comfortably.
Couples often automatically opt for a double bed, perhaps thinking that a king-size mattress is a bit of a luxury. And yet, double beds offer a very limited sleeping space for two individuals that is simply not conducive to a good night’s sleep.
How Firm Should Your Mattress Be?
It is a common perception that the firmer your mattress the better, particularly if you suffer from back and joint pain. This however is not necessarily the case and there are several factors you need to take into account when choosing your new mattress.
Body weight and proportions. If you are on the small side, then you could find that a firm mattress is far too hard and uncomfortable. Conversely, those of a larger build will find that medium or soft mattresses do not provide adequate support.
Health problems. Pain in the back and the joints will not necessarily benefit from a very firm mattress. A study published in The Lancet in 2003 found that after a 90 day period, patients with chronic non-specific lower-back pain were actually better off sleeping on a medium firm mattress.
Habitual sleeping position. If you sleep on your back or you stomach, a firmer mattress will keep your spine aligned. Side sleepers place more pressure on their body, as their weight is distributed over a smaller area. A medium firm mattress should provide enough give to accommodate shoulders and hips comfortably while keeping the spine aligned.
The Value of a Good Night Sleep
You should never underestimate the value of a good night sleep. Did you know that not getting enough quality rest could drastically affect your health? Depriving yourself of sleep negatively changes the way your immune system operates, increases stress levels, and can sometimes cause weight gain by altering how carbohydrates are stored and processed.
Studies show that resting properly can even help the brain store new information better. During clinical tests, people who got a good night sleep after they had learned something new did dramatically better on tests than subjects who did not get enough sleep. Losing sleep can also seriously alter your mood. It can lead to impatience, irritability, and difficulty with concentration.
Everybody has suffered from lack of sleep at some time or another, and most people know that it can, at the very least, put you in a bad mood. What people often forget, though, is that many times quality of rest is just as important as how long you sleep. If you have been sleeping on an old worn out bed, it might be time to consider a new mattress set. A decent mattress can make a real impact on your everyday life.
Don't wait another day! Sleep is important and a great mattress is just as important. Get yourself a great mattress today by using the best deal that you could ever find!
