SCROaT Description
[16:12:02] <logan> james: I'm trying to remember the elements that composed a 'SCROTE"
[16:12:10] <logan> james: storage, CPU, RAM...
[16:17:43] <james> Storage, CPU, & RAM Overhead (these things are assigned as a constant and thus are an "overhead") and Transfer
[16:17:46] <james> SCROaT
[16:18:39] <james> Transfer can vary, but must be accounted for as many vendors flat rate you for SCRO, but make you pay for T
[16:19:04] <james> linode just bundles transfer in, EC2 bills per byte
[16:19:51] <james> so a 10GB Disk, 1/4th a procesor, 512 GB of RAM, and 100GB of xfer is one "SCROaT"
[16:20:31] <james> if something needs more than that, say 20GB of disk, you just assign it 2 SCROaTs, rather than min-max all the things.
[16:20:35] <aziz> james: the last of the Merrylites just fell
[16:20:43] <aziz> Tom Gwydir is done.

You never miss a chance to do me down do you? Pressing away with your insidious campaign to slur me with tags like "ignorant" "brainless" "not smart enough".
Well, I told you last night I could produce your last email when you called me similar names for saying you had a ddos instead of a syn flood. Then you made a fool of yourself last night in the channel, didn't you? Getting the terms wrong yourself.
Well, listen. I've got logs here from muddz. I suggest if you don't want stuff passed straight back to me you don't say it to him in the first place. I don't know why you're trying to get "in with" the guys who wrecked your server .... personally I wouldn't show such subservience, it looks pathetic.

Hello,
Your Linodes were targeted with a very large denial of service attack on port 6667, commonly used for IRC. The network congestion as a result not only affected your ability to reach your Linode, but also that of hundreds of other customers in both our Newark and London facilities. As such, for the protection of our network, your Linodes will remain nullrouted for at least 24 hours -- until we are confident that removing the block will not affect our network.
Glancing around your home page, I note that you run IRC on your Linode. Is it possible that someone has a bone to pick with you because of your IRC network?
Needless to say, an event of this magnitude gets our attention. Any explanation you can provide would be very beneficial at this time.
With regards,
-Jed
