Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is this necessary?
This project was started by a group of Stack Exchange users who were (and are) dissatisfied with the way Stack Exchange is running things, on a number of counts. Essentially, we believe that the goals of a community-oriented product and a for-profit company are fundamentally at odds. The aim of Codidact is to be that truly community-oriented product.

  • How can I get involved?
See above for links to various communication channels we use. We suggest joining both our forum (for structured discussion about what we're building) and our Discord chat (for more real-time collaboration).

  • Where's the code?
It's in our Core repository. Contributors are welcome, whether you have programming ability or other useful skills - please join our Discord chat.

  • Where can I find a list of sites?
See previous. We have not created our Codidact Q&A software yet; there are no sites currently running on the Codidact software.

  • But what about this one?
Writing is an anomaly; it's hosted using Q&A software that one of our project members wrote a long time ago as a stop-gap measure. This gives the Writing community a place to continue while we complete Codidact; the intention is that the Writing community will migrate to the Codidact software once it's complete.
