Web Developer

Location: Chicago, IL (telecommute possible)

Type: Full time

Description

Sentact (www.sentact.com) has an immediate opening for a Web Developer, in the Chicago region, based in Schaumburg, IL. Sentact is a healthcare technology solution utilized for streamlining compliance and workflow management. We are looking for the right person who is able to work as a team player, as well as handle complex projects on his or her own.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of development experience with PHP5, Javascript, HTML, and CSS
  • Solid *NIX background (BSD or Linux) - we are not Windows friendly
  • Moderate experience with a relational database (MySQL preferred)
  • Solid knowledge and comprehension of object-oriented architecture, development, and best practices
  • Good understanding of standard algorithms

Successful Candidates Will

  • Be familiar with good design (patterns, cohesion/coupling, S.O.L.I.D)
  • Have experience with Agile engineering practices (TDD, continuous integration, etc.)
  • Have a good understanding of: AJAX, scalability, performance, unit testing, database indexing, basic security, and caching
  • Have experience with a PHP framework (Zend Framework, CakePHP, or Symfony)
  • Have experience with the PHPUnit testing framework
  • Have some professional or hobby experience in any of: Python, Ruby, or Java
  • Be passionate about software development
  • Have an online "presence": e.g. StackOverflow, development blog, GitHub

Local candidates are strongly preferred but remote candidates may be considered if they are leaps and bounds more qualified and passionate than a local candidate. Remote candidates should have prior experience working remotely with verifiable references. Remote positions may be contract-to-hire.
