app.net rage

App.net rage

Ya know, i don't understand what is all the fuss with app.net, it should be called Yet another social network like Twitter.

Let me tell a story, I'm from Romania, here 50 bucks is like, well my grandma pension is something below $100 (she worked her ass off and now uses crutches to walk) that means HALF of that. But, that's not all, today (18 August 2012) $50 equals 181 Romanian New Lei, you know what can i do with this money? pay my whole utilities for a month (except electricity).

Now let's play an imagination game, what if Facebook asked for $10 a year for every signup or active user that would result in nine billion profit (FB just hit 900 million users), per year. Well why FB does not ask for a fee? Well, because the vast majority of people will not pay. People like free services, a little advertising does not hurt.

I've hoped that Dalton failed to raise the money, because that's money down the drain. So what, you got $803,000 / 50 = 16060 users on app.net? so what? will they pay the next year? And what users are that? Enthusiasts? Nerds? Geeks? Early adopters? Scoble?

Where is the fucking API? you said we love developer and bullshit, you can do a GUI and not an API? LAME! or maybe i need to pay 100 bucks for a service that nobody uses to make an app and then sell it?

Yes for Americans 50 bucks is a piece of cake for the rest of the world is something they don't have lying around to spend on a fucking social network for hipsters, ah sorry, geeks and Scobles and Grubers.

Ya know, it would be a better idea if the pay for unlimited developer access and not users.

But who am i to judge, I'm just an irrelevant voice in a crowd of people who can't stand to see ads on Twitter (i see ads too, but shit like Newrelic which I ignore).

By the way, can't wait to see a next Arab Spring on app.net or wonder how much time till some form of censorship will begin, ya know like Twitter style, deleting tweets from people just for containing an email from an broadcasting company CEO.

One more thing, if you can buy yourself an app.net account can you give me a buck to pay my electricity?
