After finally finishing his billionth build on Workarea, his favorite commerce platform, everyday developer Tom Scott meets the platform's designer, Bendauri (Robert Loggia) -- who reveals that he created Workarea as a training ground for recruiting software engineers to help fight a war in space. Whisked away from the banality of his life as a systems implementer to a distant alien planet, Scott struggles to use his web development skills to pilot a real spaceship, with real lives at stake.
