When computer scientist Tom Scott completes work on his latest bug branch, he decides to test the code on himself. Unbeknownst to him, a housefly lands on his shoulder during the process, leading to a merger of man and insect. Initially, Scott's branch appears to have undergone a successful build, but the fly's cells begin to take over his body. As he becomes increasingly fly-like, Scott's girlfriend (Geena Davis) is horrified as the person she once loved deteriorates into a monster.
