Job Description
This is a great opportunity to work on a wide range of technologies with a primary focus being on Red Hat Linux architecture, installation and support. This role will be the frontline Linux engineer for our production environment and all auxiliary environments leading up to production. We are looking for an engineer who specializes in the Red Hat suite of products. The candidate will be involved in architecting, building and managing Linux based appliances. The candidate will be involved in the full SDLC lifecycle from development all the way through production.
The candidate will be responsible for designing the infrastructure required to satisfy the non-functional (sizing, availability, and performance) requirements for business applications that will be deployed on the Linux based appliances. This individual will work closely with internal Application Development Teams to understand how an application functions and the software products required in supporting it.
The engineer will work closely Sr. Windows Engineers to cross integrate the environments to work together.
Summary of essential job functions
• Provide Day to Day maintenance and support of the hardware and software environments that support the SDLC process.
• Ensure optimal measures are in place for maintenance, security, performance, and capacity management.
• Design and Engineer solutions for a high performing environment with heavy load.
• Troubleshoot system issues and resolve to meet client SLA’s.
• Create automated process the team to maintain the Linux environment.
• Mentor team mates with less Linux experience by leading by example, demonstrating strong work ethic and in spending time to teach others.
Minimum requirements:
• 5+ years Red Hat Linux Enterprise experience
• 5+ years in Virtualization technologies (VMWare)
• 5+ years supporting high volume systems
• 5+ years supporting Apache
• 5+ years supporting Web Applications
Abilities required:
• Infrastructure Services including DNS, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP, and NTP
• Knowledge of the Red Hat Suite of products.
• Red Hat Network Satellite
• Automated Operating System Lock Down for Linux using Security Blanket.
• Ability to articulate issues in business and technical terms.
• Perform engineering work concerned with the analysis, planning, designing, evaluating, selecting and upgrading of systems.
• Understanding of system automation concepts and techniques in order to increase systems administration and efficiency. 3rd party product experience such as Chef would be a plus.
• Knowledge of system auditing implementation and controls. HIPAA experience is a plus.
• Required to be a self-starter and work well in a team environment.
• Solid Understanding of IP network technologies
• Strong working knowledge of Linux shell and scripting (Perl and/or Bash).
• Cisco UCS experience a plus.
• Microsoft Server experience is a major plus.
• Other beneficial abilities include: Knowledge of RabbitMQ, MongoDB, Memcache
