Resetting a user account password will not unlock the Keychain Access (stored passwords for other websites, Wi-Fi, networks). You may be able to still recovery passwords to accounts that were saved in web browser aps.
It is important to know the hardware and which Mac OS is on the computer. You can go to EveryMac.com and they have a good guide to find the serial number and they can also tell you the exact model based on the SN (including original and last supported OS).
