Resetting a user account password will not unlock the Keychain Access (stored passwords for other websites, Wi-Fi, networks). You may be able to still recovery passwords to accounts that were saved in web browser aps.
It is important to know the hardware and which Mac OS is on the computer. You can go to EveryMac.com and they have a good guide to find the serial number and they can also tell you the exact model based on the SN (including original and last supported OS).
Starting with 'old' Macs, here are the commands to reset a password.

If you choose to unplug any computers, make sure you unplug both the power (UPS), ethernet (network) and phone lines.  This ensures maximum isolation from lightning surges.
I’d recommend putting computers, powerstrips, and other electronics at least several inches above the floor. Move things away from windows if possible or turn off and cover with a garbage bag. If you can smell the ocean, definitely store electronics in a bag high off the floor.
Store your flash drives, USB drives in a sealed bag. Backup your files twice!
