Git config with multiple identities and multiple repositories

Setup multiple git identities & git user informations

/!\ Be very carrefull in your setup : any misconfiguration make all the git config to fail silently ! Go trought this guide step by step and it should be fine 😉

Setup multiple git ssh identities for git

  • Generate your SSH keys as per your git provider documentation.
  • Add each public SSH keys to your git providers acounts.
  • In your ~/.ssh/config, set each ssh key for each repository as in this exemple:

- Install the packages required to compile Python
$ sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends make build-essential libssl-dev zlib1g-dev libbz2-dev libreadline-dev libsqlite3-dev wget curl llvm libncurses5-dev xz-utils tk-dev libxml2-dev libxmlsec1-dev libffi-dev liblzma-dev
- Download pyenv code from github
$ git clone https://github.com/pyenv/pyenv.git ~/.pyenv
- Define environment variable PYENV_ROOT to point to the path where pyenv repo is cloned
$ echo "set --export PYENV_ROOT $HOME/.pyenv" > ~/.config/fish/conf.d/pyenv.fish
