Doctor/Pharmeceutical Relations

Pitch

I don't know if there is an available API but I would like to find out which doctors are being paid by which pharmiceutical companies and display that information. This would be great for patients so they can make a choice of which doctor they choose to deal with based on what prescriptions they are being prescribed.

Problem

The problem is that there's too much money in the health industry and there are a lot of drugs being prescribed to people who may or not need them. Or they may not be the correct type of drug that they need. What my idea is to at least give the patient/consumer a heads up as to which companies paying doctors directly to prescribe their drugs.

#Team Building with Emojis

Hi, my name is Nick and for those of you who don't know me, I recently started learning web development at a great school in Denver call Turing School of Software & Design. The curriculum is extremely challenging and fast paced, but this post isn't about that at all. This post is about how I've brought people together using emojis.

We use a program at our school called Slack to communicate with each other. It's a great way for everyone to be on the same page while having multiple channels that cater to more specific interests. Another great thing about this program is the ability to make your own custom emojis. When I first started school, I knew other people were making their own emojis. I didn't know how they were doing it but I was anxiously waiting to get my foot in that (emoji) door.

The nickname 'Grumpy Baby' was given to me on my first day (long story), so it was natural that my first emoji creation be entitled 'Grumpy Baby'. It's basically a picture of me making a grumpy

Setting Group Expectations

Group Member Names: Nick D, Nate, Chad

    1. When are group members available to work together? What hours can each group member work individually? Are there any personal time commitments that need to be discussed?
  1. Group members are flexible to work anytime. Nick has some meetups that he wants to go to but other than that he is free. We don't want to work past 9 o'clock during the week. Time commitments have been worked out.
    1. How will group members communicate? How often will communication happen, and how will open lines of communication be maintained?
  1. Communication will mainly happen on Slack but we will leave informative comments on all pull requests.

Misconceptions About Recycling

Myth #1

Recycling is more expensive than disposal...

Truth

A well-run recycling program can be just as cost effective as regular trash disposal.

Myth #2

Making products from recycled materials is too expensive...

CRUD in Sinatra -- Check for Understanding
  1. CRUD stands for Create, Read, Update and Delete. These are the 4 basic functions for managing a database.

  2. So there are seven verb + path combos, the first two are Create-POST and Create-PUT. They are very similar but only difference is you use the POST method to create a new item for the database and the PUT method to modify a current item from the database. The next verb/path combo is Read-GET and this is the way you retrieve data from a webpage for viewing purposes only. The next three are Update-PUT, Update-POST and Update-PATCH. I believe the Update-PUT is modifying a current item within a database, which is also what I believe Update-POST does. Only difference is that Update-POST is for older frameworks that don't use the new PUT method yet. Next is Update-PATCH, which I believe is only a partial modification to an existing item within a database. And last is the Delete-DELETE verb/path combo and this just deletes an item altogether from within a database.

  3. The 'set method_override: true' is to

0.upto 1000 do |x|
if x%3==0 && x%5==0 && x%7==0
puts "SuperFizzBuzz"
elsif x%3==0 && x%7==0
puts "SuperFizz"
elsif x%5==0 && x%7==0
puts "SuperBuzz"
elsif x%3==0
puts "Fizz"
elsif x%5==0
I am going to show you how air conditioning functions by explaining how the refrigeration cycle works. But before I explain
the refrigeration cycle, I will describe all the main parts involved.
1. Compressor
The compressor is the heart of the refrigeration cycle, it takes a low pressure, low temperature gas and pumps out a
high pressure, high temperature gas.
2. Condenser
The condenser is a giant box essentially that is located outside. It's surrounded by a coil and it has a fan at the top
of it. What happens is the fan at the top actually removes heat from the refrigerant, changing it from a gas to a liquid.
