Installing git on CentOS 5 using yum

Installing git on CentOS 5 using yum

Since you're using CentOS 5, the default package manager is yum, not apt-get. To install a program using it, you'd normally use the following command:

$ sudo yum install <packagename>

However, when trying to install git this way, you'll encounter the following error on CentOS 5:

language: python
python:
- "2.6"
- "2.7"
env:
- DJANGO=1.2.7 SUITE=tests
- DJANGO=1.3.1 SUITE=tests
- DJANGO=1.4 SUITE=tests
- DJANGO=1.4 SUITE=lint

The way I had to add a github repo webhook for pull requests

This is more complex than necessary.

GitHub webhooks for a URL by default only fire on repo pushes. There appears to be no way in the web UI to set up webhooks for other events. And so we go to the API. I prefer to do this type of thing with Hurl.

Common performance symptoms

The two most common performance symptoms are with throughput or timeouts.

An application's maximum throughput can be measured by how many requests per second it serves; New Relic reports this number as "rpm," which means "requests per minute." Throughput will be limited by how long the average request takes to process and how may servers are available to handle processes. Heroku calls these servers "dynos."
