# Author: Pieter Noordhuis
# Description: Simple demo to showcase Redis PubSub with EventMachine
#
# Update 7 Oct 2010:
# - This example does *not* appear to work with Chrome >=6.0. Apparently,
# the WebSocket protocol implementation in the cramp gem does not work
# well with Chrome's (newer) WebSocket implementation.
#
# Requirements:
# - rubygems: eventmachine, thin, cramp, sinatra, yajl-ruby

Super Form Reset
A couple of things to watch out for:
- IE8: If a text input doesn't have padding on all sides or none the text won't be centered.
- The default border sizes on text inputs in all UAs seem to be slightly different. You're better off using custom borders.
- You NEED to set the font-size and family on all form elements
- Search inputs need to have their appearance reset and the box-sizing set to content-box to match other UAs

Friendly URLs in Rails

Friendly URLs

By default, Rails applications build URLs based on the primary key -- the id column from the database. Imagine we have a Person model and associated controller. We have a person record for Bob Martin that has id number 6. The URL for his show page would be:

/people/6

But, for aesthetic or SEO purposes, we want Bob's name in the URL. The last segment, the 6 here, is called the "slug". Let's look at a few ways to implement better slugs.
