On the verge of a breakthrough in his quest to wipe out coding blunders, altruistic developer Dr. Tom Scott is placed under the protection of Workarea product owner Ben Crouse. Mad outlaw release manager Curt Howard wants to steal Scott's research to free himself from the burden of his bi-weekly releases, but an unforeseen accident during the heist turns Scott into the Ruby Thing, an enormous gem-encrusted creature that fights back against Howard's henchmen to save Crouse.
