It sometimes happen you need change code on a machine from which you cannot push to the repo.
You’re ready to copy/paste what diff outputs to your local working copy.
You think there must be a better way to proceed and you’re right. It’s a simple 2 steps process:
1. Generate the patch:
git diff > some-changes.patch
Locate the section for your github remote in the .git/config file. It looks like this:
[remote "origin"]
fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
url = git@github.com:joyent/node.git
Now add the line fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/origin/pr/* to this section. Obviously, change the github url to match your project's URL. It ends up looking like this:
It's possible to run a custom (instead of hypervisor-managed) kernel for use with Debian 8.x on a DigitalOcean droplet.
