PHP: Set value if not exist

You know how, in JavaScript, we can set a value to a variable if one doesn't, like this:

name = name || 'joe';

This is quite common and very helpful. Another option is to do:

name || (name = 'joe');

Checkout github pull requests locally

Locate the section for your github remote in the .git/config file. It looks like this:

[remote "origin"]
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
	url = git@github.com:joyent/node.git

Now add the line fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/origin/pr/* to this section. Obviously, change the github url to match your project's URL. It ends up looking like this:

Put a closure on it

Sometimes you'll have objects that manage state along with event handling. This happens frequently in MVC apps. Let's start with a messy example:

var Launcher = function(rocket) {
  this.rocket = rocket
}

Launcher.prototype.isReady = function() {
