What is the value of a checklist?

It has taken me a long time to accept the fact that if I don't write something down I will not remember it and it will not get done. This goes for even the most mundane tasks. At work the moment someone makes an ask of me I write it down. I often pause conversations in order to write down the task. I have found that others are welcoming of this as it shows them I take their request seriously. The psychological benefits are twofold. Firstly by writing down the task you are better committing it to memory. It may seem counterintuitive but by writing things down you are setting yourself up to remember them better.
