Markdown is the format all of your homework gists are written in.

Using this markdown cheatsheet, create a new gist of your own by clicking the New Gist button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Create a "Beginners Guide to data types" documenting your data types knowledge so far using Markdown.

When you've worked towards a goal in the past, what systems or tools have been helpful for you in accomplishing that goal? How could you adapt those same systems/tools to use while at Turing?

1. Plan Realistically - in a localized and tangible place.

2. Follow Through - Exceed Expectations When Possible

3. Follow Up - Look back and reflect

In the past, when working towards goals, I have found that one of the biggest make or break factors for myself is consistency. I find myself to have high expectations and therefore I set unrealistic goals which then causes me to become discouraged or frustrated when my expectations have not been met. Consequently, I have developed simple cornerstones that I can fall back on to make sure I am reaching my goals. First, I plan realistically. As I noted, I tend to have unrealistic expectations of myself and think I can reach much higher ceilings than I am actually capable of. Planning realistically allows me to think ahead an

Why is empathy important for design?

why are we talking about empathy at a software development school? how can you develop the "skill" of empathy? and why should you care?

"Let's not let the wish be the father of the thought."

I find myself to be more empathic than the average person, but of course I could always be better. I think it is also important to understand that you exist within your own complex and are exposed to that first. Therefore, in certain situations or life scenarios, I might consider myself to be more empathic than somebody, but in their path of life, they might be exposed to numerous other situations that give them their own perspective. That is what it is all about in the end -- perspective. Empathic, listening, and perspective are the three values that I think are most important when we consider design and humanity in general. In order to produce useful products, it’s important to listen with intent. When I say intent, the intent is to be open-min

Module 2 Week 1 Career Journal Prompt

Reflect on your habits from last module. What behaviors and activities were helpful for you? What activities and behaviors could be more effective for you? What processes would you like to try differently this module to become more effective at your work and as a software developer? During last module I found to ride fairly high during the early portion of the Mod. I think it is easy to come in setting high expectations and riding the energy and adrenaline coming into a new experience. I found that this energy and focus wore off as the Mod moved forward. This is not necessarily a bad thing and could somewhat expected. I have always found myself setting high expectations and unrealistic goals and this was something I wanted to work on in module 1. I do feel I have made a lot of progress in setting realistic goals since starting Turing and want to continue to improve in that area. For this Module, I had alerady hoped to be a lot more habitual in my continued path through
