How to create small, unique tokens in Ruby

How to create small, unique tokens in Ruby

That is is basically a "fork" of blog article i'm constantly returning to. It seems that the blog is down:

My choice: Dave Bass’s rand().to_s() trick

Dave Bass proposed this which I picked up for my implementation (here for an 8-chars token):

UICollectionView w/ NSFetchedResultsController & NSBlockOperation. Idea originated from Blake Watters (https://github.com/AshFurrow/UICollectionView-NSFetchedResultsController/issues/13)
- (void)controllerWillChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller
{
self.shouldReloadCollectionView = NO;
self.blockOperation = [[NSBlockOperation alloc] init];
}
- (void)controller:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller didChangeSection:(id<NSFetchedResultsSectionInfo>)sectionInfo
atIndex:(NSUInteger)sectionIndex forChangeType:(NSFetchedResultsChangeType)type
{
__weak UICollectionView *collectionView = self.collectionView;

Example of creating an animated GIF on iOS, with no 3rd-party code required. This should also be easy to port to OS X.
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#import <ImageIO/ImageIO.h>
#import <MobileCoreServices/MobileCoreServices.h>
static UIImage *frameImage(CGSize size, CGFloat radians) {
UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions(size, YES, 1); {
[[UIColor whiteColor] setFill];
UIRectFill(CGRectInfinite);
CGContextRef gc = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext();
CGContextTranslateCTM(gc, size.width / 2, size.height / 2);

Ubuntu 12.04 Ruby, Rails, Nginx, Unicorn

Ubuntu 12.04, Ruby, Rails, Nginx, Unicorn and git-deploy

In the seemlingly endless search for the actual correct and easy way to deploy a Rails app, we have tried several ways. We tried out using Apache2 and running a cluster of Thin servers. With the built in threading of Puma we decided to use it with Nginx.

Server Setup

  • Create new server
  • Login to new server
    • ssh root@IPaddress (you can also use the domain name if you have the DNS setup already)
    • accept the RSA key
%w(app as).each do |role|
desc "Adds #{role} to the target roles for the task"
task(role) do
if ENV['ROLES']
ENV['ROLES'] += ",#{role}"
else
ENV['ROLES'] = role
end
end
end
