Configure Synology NAS as Git Server

Instructions for setting up a git server on a Synology NAS with Diskstation. Specifically, I am using a DS414 with DSM 5.0.

Set Up User and Folder

• Create user gituser via Diskstation interface (with File Station and WebDAV privilages)
• Add new shared folder called git (located at /volume1/git) with read/write access for gituser and admin. This folder will hold all the repos.
• Install Git Server package via Diskstation

Disable vim automatic visual mode on mouse select

shadowsocks + privoxy/tsocks

• shadowsocks: service, socks proxy
• privoxy: service, convert socks proxy to http proxy
• tsocks: tool, use socks proxy for any command line

AWS Glacier: Delete vault

Follow these steps to remove all archives from an AWS vault. After this is finished, you will be able to delete the vault itself through the browser console.

Step 1 / Retrieve inventory

This will create a job that collects required information about the vault.

$ aws glacier initiate-job --job-parameters '{"Type": "inventory-retrieval"}' --account-id YOUR_ACCOUNT_ID --region YOUR_REGION --vault-name YOUR_VAULT_NAME

TV 4 and TV 4K

TV 4 supports HEVC natively up to 1080p30 (I think).

TV 4K has a hardware HEVC decoder that can support up to 2160p60.
