Mod 0 Session 1 Practice Tasks

Session 1 Practice Tasks

The assignments listed here should take you approximately 60 minutes.

To start this assignment, click the button in the upper right-hand corner that says Fork. This is now your copy of the document. Click the Edit button when you're ready to start adding your answers. To save your work, click the green button in the bottom right-hand corner. You can always come back and re-edit your gist.

1. Markdown (20 min)

Markdown is the format all of your homework gists are written in.

Using this markdown cheatsheet, create a new gist of your own by clicking the New Gist button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Create a "Beginners Guide to data types" documenting your data types knowledge so far using Markdown.

Hope Gochnour's Module 0 Capstone Gear-Up Response

What role does empathy play in your life and how has it helped you?

Empathy plays a key role in my life. I have friends and a fiance because I know how to listen and have empathy. Friends are people who you share something in common with and can listen to and help (and vice-versa) as needed, and relationship partners are even more so. Mine chooses to stay with me, and even asked me to marry her, and I believe that's because I know how to listen to and connect with her. How does empathy help you build better software?

It's one thing to pass code and ideas around the office to get an idea of what to do, and it's another to get people together, develop ideas together, voice concerns and questions, and learn how t

Hope Gochnour's Mod 0 Professional Development Capstone Assignment Part 1

When you've worked towards a goal in the past, what systems or tools have been helpful for you in accomplishing that goal? How could you adapt those same systems/tools to use while at Turing?

I don't know about systems or tools, but I know that I can always lean on my friends, and have, though the years. In the lead-up to starting Mod 0, I'm reached out to my friends and found that quite a few of them have programming experience (and one of them even goes to this school!). They've even offered their help! And I'd be a fool not to take it. I know that I can make it through if I lean on and believe in my friends. Thinking further, I think that taking advantage of Google and the recommended books will be fantastic resources. Thanks to the Gear-Up session, I know better ways to Google to find out what I need, so I know I'll be able to lean on that as needed. Between these resources, I believe I can make it.

As you start this new career, what is one of your strengths and how do you know?

I belie
