An example of using pthread's condition variables, showing how to block a main thread while waiting for worker threads to finish their work, without joining the threads. This could be useful if you want to loop the threads, for example.
#include <pthread.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include <assert.h>
/* Compile like this:
gcc --std=c99 -lpthread cond.c -o cond

How effectively delete a git submodule.

To remove a submodule you need to:

  • Delete the relevant section from the .gitmodules file.
  • Stage the .gitmodules changes git add .gitmodules
  • Delete the relevant section from .git/config.
  • Run git rm --cached path_to_submodule (no trailing slash).
  • Run rm -rf .git/modules/path_to_submodule (no trailing slash).
  • Commit git commit -m "Removed submodule "
  • Delete the now untracked submodule files rm -rf path_to_submodule

Install pdflatex ubuntu

PdfLatex is a tool that converts Latex sources into PDF. This is specifically very important for researchers, as they use it to publish their findings. It could be installed very easily using Linux terminal, though this seems an annoying task on Windows. Installation commands are given below.

  • Install the TexLive base
sudo apt-get install texlive-latex-base
  • Also install the recommended and extra fonts to avoid running into the error [1], when trying to use pdflatex on latex files with more fonts.
