Guiding Questions

  • What did we do well, that we want to continue?

Communication as to what each of us need to do either separately or together. Also, the pacing of the project has been good.

  • Why do we think it is important?

It's important to have good expectations so that the quality of the project is maintianed.

  1. Why do you want mentoring in the job search?

Job searching is quite a daunting process. I actually have never gone through a job search process on my own before, for any job. I would appreciate additional tips and guidance specifically in the areas of interviewing and cold/warm outreach to a contact at a company that I want to work at. As an introvert, I know that I will need additional practice in these two areas to become effective in them. I hope that this mentorship will help me to be more comfortable with the job search process once I graduate from Turing.

Professional Story

I have always loved languages and figuring out how to express and communicate information. I studied abroad in Costa Rica for six months while I was in college to learn Spanish. I enjoyed this experience because I felt that a whole new world had opened up to me that I did not have access to before. I was able to make new friends and experience a new culture because I worked hard to learn a new form of communication. After my trip abroad, I pursued jobs in both political and business areas. These jobs taught me quite a bit, but they never gave me that sense of wonder and creativity that I experienced when studying a new language.

I am studying coding at Turing for the same reason that I learned Spanish in Costa Rica. I love to discover the ways in which we express ourselves through both human lanugages and computer languages, through technology. I have been able to create new hubs of information and communication through my studies at Turing, and I am immensely proud of how far I have come. After a

Agile and Feedback Reflection

Agile and Feedback Reflection

  1. What have you learned about the use of agile vs. waterfall in software projects?

We have learned intimately how both processes work. At the very beginning of our project, we originally decided to split the entire project up among the four of us. We quickly learned that this was not a good approach to completing the project. Each of us came to the realization that there was functionality that we needed to access in earlier sections in the project so that we could move forward with the rest of the project. We changed our work assignments so that each member had a completed a small section of the first part of the project, and then we moved on from there. We were able to use each other's ideas and code this way, and we were able to test better since could test every method properly from beginning to end.

  2. How did you and your group approach project management in this project (what tools did you use, how did you hold each other accountable, etc.)?

We met in person a

Guiding Questions to Define The Relationship:

  • What are each of our learning goals for this project? What drives us in this project?

Increase thinking skills on algorithims. Learn how to work in a team on a coding project, especially with using GitHub together. Learning and getting to the next Module will drive us in this project.

  • What is your collaboration style? How do you feel about pair programming vs. divide-and-conquer approaches?
