Frontend Technologies | Requires React / React Native and configuration of Babel plugin | Framework and platform agnostic (works with any JS framework such as React, Angular or Vue as well as on the native mobile platforms) |
GraphQL API | Requires a certain structure in the GraphQL schema | Works with any GraphQL schema |
Complexity | Slow learning curve: Lots of powerful magic happening behind the scenes | Low entrance barrier: Let's you get started quickly and involves more manual work for certain features |

I got to here after spending hours trying to deploy to an Elastic Beanstalk instance via CircleCi 2.0 so I thought I'd write up what worked for me to hopefully help others. Shout out to RobertoSchneiders who's steps for getting it to work with CircleCi 1.0 were my starting point.
For the record, I'm not the most server-savvy of developers so there may be a better way of doing this.

First you have to define the scalar type in the GraphQL schema:
scalar Date
Then you have to provide a resolver for the scalar type. Here's an example implementation using Luxon:
import { DateTime } from 'luxon';
makeExecutableSchema({
Note
If you want to use pure WSLg, you can try the new WSLg tutorial.
In this tutorial, we will setup GUI in WSL2, and access it using VNC. No additional software outside WSL (like VcXsrv) is required, except, of course, a VNC Viewer (RealVNC, TightVNC, TigerVNC, UVNC, etc, all of them might work flawlessly).
The key component we need to install is the desktop metapackage you want (GNOME, KDE, Xfce, Budgie, etc) and tigervnc-standalone-server
.
For this setup, I will use Ubuntu (20.04, 22.04 and 24.04 are working), and install GNOME Desktop. Since the key components aren't bound to Ubuntu or GNOME, you can use your favorite distro and GUI. Check the Sample screenshots section for examples.
