I waited for years for a Homebrew formula for MOC. I finally found one today, but it didn't work for me. So I decided to try to compile it from source.
Here is a list of requirements, taken directly from the MOC README:
I needed to quickly encode a protobuf from the command-line, and while I pretty much immediately came across protoc --encode
as the obvious solution, I did not find much documentation on the input textual syntax.
Here is the relevant snippet from protoc --help
:
--encode=MESSAGE_TYPE Read a text-format message of the given type
from standard input and write it in binary
to standard output. The message type must
be defined in PROTO_FILES or their imports.

Unfortunately, the Cisco AnyConnect client for Mac conflicts with Pow. And by "conflicts", I mean it causes a grey-screen-of-death kernel panic anytime you connect to the VPN and Pow is installed.
As an alternative, there is OpenConnect, a command-line client for Cisco's AnyConnect SSL VPN.
Here's how to get it set up on Mac OS X:
OpenConnect can be installed via homebrew:
brew update
brew install openconnect
