Union Pacific is investing approximately $57 million in infrastructure in Nebraska this year. Projects funded by Union Pacific benefit Nebraska's overall transportation infrastructure without taxpayer funds. Union Pacific's investment plan funds a range of initiatives: $53 million to maintain railroad track and $721,000 to maintain bridges in the state. Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture (APMA) has been recognized with the 2017 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Housing Award in the category of Specialized Housing. The 56-person architecture and interior design firm won for its design of Heartland Family Service's— Heartland Family Works building in Omaha. The project — in collaboration with J Development — involved the adaptive reuse of a mid century apartment building into a residential rehabilitation facility for pregnant women and mothers with children. APMA was one of 14 recipients in four categories. The Durham Museum has partnered with the Omaha Police Department for a new exhibit entitled, "Omaha Police: Answering the Call Since 1857," in celebration of the department's 160 year anniversary. This exhibition is drawn from the Omaha Police Department's historic archive of original artifacts including uniforms, photographs and more. See a retired bomb robot, vintage firearms and the contents of an authentic Crime Kit. The exhibit is on display until Sep. 24. The exhibition is supported by the First Responders Foundation. First Light Home Care of Omaha, a provider of non-medical home care, has been recognized as one of the country's top home care providers by the 2017 Best of Home Care Awards. Home Care Pulse, a third-party research measurement firm, presents the awards annually. Awards are given based on client feedback. First Light Home Care of Omaha earned a Provider of Choice Award, which qualifies its as a Home Care Pulse Certified—trusted partner for at least six consecutive months, and that rank in the top 50th percentile in two or more client satisfaction categories. First Light delivers services to adults with disabilities; those recovering from illness, injury or surgery; those adjusting to major life transitions; or anyone age 18 or older who may need assistance. The Nebraska Cattlewomen named the 2017 Nebraska Beef Ambassador Contest winner, Hannah Esch of Unadilla. The Nebraska Beef Ambassador Program provides an opportunity for youth, ages 14-24 years old, to become spokespersons and future leaders for the beef industry. Esch took home the first place, collegiate division, along with a $200 in cash. A scholarship from the Nebraska Cattlemen Research and Education Foundation will be awarded at the completion of her year as Beef Ambassador. Senior contestant Tara Lee Hudson, Belevidere also received first place and a cash prize of $125. TEAM Software Inc. received four marketing industry awards of merit at the 2017 American Marketing Association (AMA) Omaha Pinnacle Awards ceremony. The awards included: Platinum: Public Relations, Small Business- TEAM Client Conference 2016 Platinum: Video, Small Business- Extreme Makeover: eHub Edition Gold: Total Marketing Campaign, Small Business- TEAM Client Conference 2016 Bronze: Total Marketing Campaign, Small Business- eHub Renovation Campaign Express Employment Professionals, an internationally franchised staffing company, is setting aside a day of volunteerism known as "Brand It Blue Day." On Friday, June 9, Express Employment Professionals offices from California to North Carolina to Canada will join together partnering with local food banks and pantries to help fight hunger. Through June 9, Express will host a food drive at its office, located at 4955 O Street, where you can drop off non-perishable food, which will then be donated to the Food Bank of Lincoln. The Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau launched the Lincoln 2017 Craft Beer Tour to highlight the citys burgeoning craft beer industry. Heres how the Craft Beer Tour works: Pick up your Craft Beer Tour booklet and souvenir bottle opener at the Lincoln Visitors Center. Participants must provide contact information including name, address, email and age (participants must be 21). Then visit all nine locations to have your beer guide validated and receive your free pint of beer or a discount on a pint of your choice, compliments of each participating brewery. Complete your tour before December 31, 2017 and return your booklet to the Lincoln Visitors Center for a free traditional "shaker pint." Hy-Vee, Inc. private label canned tuna ranked fifth in Greenpeace USAs 2017 Tuna Shopping Guide, which evaluated 20 well-known brands of canned tuna in the United States. Greenpeace scored brands based on sustainability and how ethical and fair the tuna products are for the world's oceans. Factors include: traceability, fishing methods, labeling, consumer education, and promoting industry change. Greenpeace also noted Hy-Vee's progress in its Seafood Procurement Policy and recently released Shelf-Stable Tuna Policy. A new tool is available on the Nebraska On-Farm Research Network website that allows growers to click on a map of Nebraska to find out about research projects conducted on farms in their area. The result finder contains over 600 studies and is updated annually. The finder is also mobile friendly and allows growers to select one, several or all counties. The database behind the map allows growers to search by keyword, filter results by year, crop, irrigation, topic and subtopic, or explore using the map. The results finder is under "Research Results" on the on-farm research website at http://cropwatch.unl. edu/farmresearch. Roberta Pinkerton CEcD has been named the 2017 Nebraska Economic Developers Association (NEDA) Professional of the Year in the service provider category. Pinkerton is the executive director of Leadership Nebraska. She was recognized for her accomplishments and years of dedicated service to economic growth in the state of Nebraska. Pinkerton received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska in agriculture economics. Former positions include: 10 years with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and 15 years at Omaha Public Power District. Regional qualifier rounds for the 2017 Web.com Tour Pinnacle Bank Championship will be held at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln on June 22. The top 20 players will advance to compete in the final qualifier at Arbor Links in Nebraska City on July 6. The winner there will earn an exemption into the Championship. Any professional or amateur with a 4.0 handicap index or less will be eligible. Each regional qualifier is limited to the first 144 entrants who meet all eligibility and handicap requirements. Entry deadline is June 14 and the entry fee is $250. The Pinnacle Bank Championship, presented by Heartland Chevy Dealers, is a stop on the PGA' s Web.com Tour and will be held July 17— 23 at the Club at Indian Creek. The tournament's charity partner, Team Mates, will receive proceeds from the event to help fund education and mentoring programs for Nebraska youth.
