Kindle Paperwhite 4 (2018) Jailbreak

This is a guideline for those who got confuse reading about jailbreak from this thread mobileread forum. This guide is just a simplified version of it. All credits goes to @NiLuJe.

Jailbreak

  1. Start up brand new Kindle, and skip the wifi screen, choose to finish setup later.

  2. Download factory image to your computer, and copy it onto your Kindle Download the same version as your kindle version.

  3. Unplug your kindle and "Update Your Kindle" in the Settings menu. Wait until it's finish booting, takes around 10 minutes.

  4. Plug the kindle back to your computer and create empty folder called 'update.bin.tmp.partial'

  5. Download this main-htmlviewer.tar.gz

    • Copy it to your kindle
    • Unplug, in the search bar, type ;installHtml and press return.
    • If the screen flashes and the device reboots, it means your kindle succesfully jailbroken

  6. Download JailBreak-1.15.N-FW-5.x-hotfix.zip copy it to your kindle, "update your kindle" in settings menu. This hotfix is only for kindle with serial number G000T6, G000PP, G000T1, G000T2. You can see your serial number in Kindle box.

Update to the latest firmware

  1. Download the latest firmware here 5.10.3 or you can download directly from amazon site here in case "5.10.3" is not the newest one.
  2. Put it in your device
  3. "Update your Kindle" in settings menu
