A CHANGE IN THE ROSTER of the Jedi Council from Episode I (1999) to Episode II (2002) allowed the intervening stories of the Expanded Universe to eliminate prominent Jedi Masters in a dramatic fashion. The comic book Star Wars: Zam Wesell (2002) had Yarael Poof sacrifice himself to save Coruscant from a Force talisman weapon, while Yaddle sacrifices herself in this book. Their vacant spots on the Council would be filled by newcomers Coleman Trebor and Shaak Ti.
