meta_8020
"Weniger, aber besser"
Less, but better.
Intro => 80/20 is a natural principle that was first observed by a dude named Vilifredo Pareto in like the early 1900's. He noticed that year after year 20% of his pea pod's in his garden were producing approximately 80% of his yield of peas. And the other 80% of the pea pods were producing the reminaing 20% of his peas.
I'm not going to go into this but heres some examples of this natural principle working in nature/business/relationships/etc. . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Meta => levels thinking (like zooming out (or in) of a fractal).
An easy heuristic for you to imagine this complex concept is like so:
"Meta Thing"
Thing Thing (second thing is probably plural)
Now add "HOW TO", "OF" or "ABOUT" in the middle of it until it makes sense.
Thing HOW TO thing
Thing OF thing
Thing ABOUT thing
Examples:
Meta learning => Learning HOW TO learn
Meta analysis => Analysis OF analyses
Meta thinking => Thinking OF/ABOUT thinking
Meta programming => Programs that program programs
Meta habit => The Habit OF forming new habits
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Meta 80/20?????
=> 80/20 OF THE 80/20.
Its time to zoom in.
20% of the 20% => 4% of your effort
80% of the 80% => produces 64% of your results
Zoom in again.
20% of 20% of 20% => .8% of your effort
80% of 80% of 80% => produces 51.2% of your results
Levers this powerful exist all around you. At Turing. At home. In your jobs down the road. Look for the levers.
Then push them. . .
