You are Dori, a peasant living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a pitchfork
and a nothing else. You wake up and begin working in the fields. You see a girl
named Tylir walking down the road with her boyfriend. She is beautiful, but
you are not interested in her. You think about how you could be more than that
> pitchfork
The next day you hear a noise outside your window. It sounds like someone throwing
something at it. You go to investigate and find out that it is a man throwing
a rock at the window. He looks up as he runs off.
> yell "WAIIIT"
You run back inside and shout
> go back working in the fields
You look around for the man who threw the rock but don't see him. You then notice
the sun has set and the moon has risen. The moonlight shines on the ground where
you were standing and you can see footprints leading away from the spot
>
. You think they might be those of the man who was throwing rocks at the window.
You quickly gather what you need and head back to work.
THE EN
>
EMY IS YOU!
You turn around and see the creature standing there with its arms raised. Its
face is twisted into an evil grin. It raises one clawed hand and points it at
you. You feel a chill go down your spine
and you know that this must be the creature's doing.
You raise your pitchfork and scream "WAI-OWW!" You throw the fork at the creature
and it catches it easily. It laughs and shakes its head. Then it turns its attention
to you
> say "Sit down!"
You take a deep breath and stand up slowly. You walk over to the creature and
put your hands on its shoulders. You tell it calmly "I am sorry for frightening
you". The creature doesn't respond and just stares at you. You continue
> say "good bird, here's a pat"
You reach down and grab the creature by the wrist and pull it close to you. You
place your other hand on top of the creature's and squeeze gently. You let go
and the creature lets out a small yelp. You smile and say
>
"Good bird, here's a pat". You give the creature a pat on the back and it relaxes
slightly. You continue
> say "Now, give me back my fork. I can't work without it"
You grab the creature's arm and pull it toward you. You push it forward and it
falls backwards onto the ground. You grab the fork and twist it until the blade
comes free. You hold it out to the creature and it takes it. You stand up and
start walking towards the house
>
. The creature watches you curiously. You turn around and point at it. It follows
your finger and walks closer to you. You open the door and step inside. You
close the door behind you and sit down on the floor. The creature sits down
beside you
. You both stare at each other silently. Finally the creature speaks "Well? What
do we do now?"
> say "Oh my goodness. So you can speak?"
"Yes, we're going to talk about how to live together".
"What?"
"We're going to live together".
"How do you propose to do that?"
"By being good birds".
> "Alright. For starter, let's go working in the fields because I'm late on schedule"
The creature nods and smiles. "Fine, but only if you promise not to kill me".
