Girl Develop It San Diego Teachers Wanted!

We have several classes scheduled, and would love to offer a wide array of classes as we expand our teachers and membership. We don't require any teaching experience, just that you're comfortable with the subject matter. We have a variety of curriculum that have been developed by other GDI chapters here. Teachers are free to use them in their entirety, adapt, etc - we just like to give our teachers something to work from! We also welcome any other class ideas!

Our teachers receive a percentage of the proceeds from each class (We charge about $10 an hour per student each class).

If you have an idea of something you'd like to teach, or any questions, please let us know! Here's a short document on what to expect as a GDI Teacher and the GDI Code of Conduct.

Here are the classes we currently have scheduled for which we do not yet have a teacher set in stone - classes are weekday evenings or weekend mornings:

  • JS Workshop: Angular.js; 3 hrs Monday, May 2
  • JS Workshop: Backbone.js; 3 hrs Monday, May 16
  • JS Workshop: Node.js; 3 hrs Monday, June 6
  • Intro to the Command Line; 3 hrs Monday, June 27
  • Web Accessibility; 3 hrs Monday, August 1
  • Responsive Design 1; 4 hrs Saturday, August 20
  • Responsive Design 2; 4 hrs Sunday, August 21

Some other classes we'd like to schedule:

  • Intro to PHP/MySQL
  • Intro to Wordpress
  • Intro to Joomla
  • Intro to User Experience
  • HTML/CSS 202: Flexbox Layouts
  • Intro to Digital Project Management
  • Intro to Algorithms
  • CodePen
  • Java
  • Python

If you're not sure about teaching, we also need several TAs for each class we offer, which can be a good ramp-up into teaching!
