My Personal Project Idea

Effortful

Pitch

Keep your change, lose your guilt and start giving back to those in need by rewarding positive behavior with basic human necessities, education or opening a door to future employment.

Problem

The problem I am trying to solve is offering a non-monetary reward for creating positive influences in our community, specifically for the homeless population.

Solution

Effortful will solve this problem by allowing members to create 'Efforts', which can be any positive action or contribution to the community for set amount of time.

  • Examples would be picking up garbage from a range of streets for 2 weeks, shoveling snow, writing, exercise...
  • A members would be able to post images or document progress of the effort. Sponsers would pledge a reward (one meal a week, clothes, educational resources, job interview...) for successful completion of an effort. Volunteers would pick up rewards from sponsers at a set time and location and deliver rewards at a set time and location.

Target Audience

There would be three specific user types for this app: Member, Volunteer and Sponsor.

  • A member is a user that creates and participates in an effort, receiving the reward for successful completion of their effort.
  • A volunteer is a user that picks up rewards and delivers them to a member.
  • A sponsor is a user that supports an effort by creating or donating rewards to a member.

Integrations

  • I will be using the What3Words and Twilio API to locate drop-off and pick-up locations and for communication.
  • I will be using a non-OmniAuth login for users that do not have social-media in addition to the Facebook OmniAuth login.
