This seems plausible. It would be a good bike and ski MMAF mission. (Here's the link to that version) The avalanche hazard seems reasonable to mitigate.
Here's another variant where you drive up to the east side and start from there (13 mi, 2k vert): http://www.hillmap.com/m/ag1zfmhpbGxtYXAtaGRychULEghTYXZlZE1hcBiAgIDM3vSlCgw
Big and fun! Maybe a lot of walking on dry and wind-blasted ground.
This seems like a huge training day.
Ugh. Looks like I blew it and didn't copy the URL for this one. Maybe I'll rebuild it in the future. It's basically the same as the next one, but stays on ridges instead of skiing fun lines.
This one looks like it just might work in the winter, but I wouldn't count on it. Even if you didn't get cliffed out or forced into scary avalanche terrain, you couldn't get off the route without running into those to hazards.
This route includes primo-looking descents on:
- Tweto (interesting alternative to the standard "The Crack")
- Democrat (N Face)
- Clinton Peak (E Chute)
- Wheeler Mountain (N Face)
- Fletcher Mountain (NW Face)
- Atlantic (E Couloir)
- Pacific (N Couloir)
- Crystal Peak (N Face)
- Peak 10 (4th of July Bowl)
I can't ski this 30 mile 16000 vert beast in a day, and getting those descents would be a hell of a spring ski season. This is obviously a spring mission, but even so, I think that avoiding skiing both steep ice and wet slides would be difficult. Anyway, it seems like something to think about.
