This is the story of a man named Sam. Sam helped moderate a site in a big community where he was user number 2246344. User Number 2246344's job was simple: he sat at his desk in his room, and he pushed buttons on a keyboard. Review items came to him through a monitor on his desk, asking him what buttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order. This is what User 2246344 did every day of every month and every year, and although others might have considered it soul-rending, Sam relished every moment that the review items came in, as though he had been made exactly for this job. And Sam was happy.
And then one day, something very peculiar happened. Something that would forever change Sam. Something he would never quite forget. He had been at his desk for nearly an hour when he realized that not one single chat message had arrived on the monitor from Tiny Giant. Tiny Giant had not showed up to give off his Magic™, call a meeting, or even say Hi. Never in all his years at the chat room had this happened - this complete isolation. Something was very clearly wrong. Shocked, frozen solid, Sam found himself unable to move for the longest time. But as he came to his wits and regained his senses, a fellow colleague gave him a memo, which read: "Due to personal reasons @TinyGiant must step down from his role as RO. We wish him the best of luck." Sam stepped forward and volunteered to take his place.
