Facilitators:
- Dethe Elza @dethe
- Cynthia Ng @TheRealArty
Webmaker suite:
- goggles - seeing & “hacking” existing websites, thimble - webpage editor, popcorn - video editor
- can see the source - see everything about it, remix existing makes, play with the web, social commentary
web literacy standard & badges
- has different tracks
- can be at different levels
- have tried in the past, discussed information and literacy skills
- great to have a set standard, instead of always setting things and made up in silos
- tie in with badges
- nicely broken down
- people love to collect things, wanting to complete all pathways even if not meant to
- badges can be created, distributed through openbadges.org
- has metadata with issuer, evaluation criteria, etc.
- have to design your own system and how to apply it to the standard, but we're here to help!
- can put a link to your own criteria, can put as much information on you want
- open to change, but will not change all the time
other thoughts:
- might even put course material on webmaker
- might use popcorn to remix your own videos instead of having remake the whole thing
- use badges to connect people e.g. for individual to find peer mentors
- tutorials on popcorn/thimble to walk learners through
- can be self-driven, can make your own projects and tutorials
