  1. What is your greatest strength and how do you know?

Self-awareness. My whole life I have been an easy-going person. I never let emotions completely control me. Which I feel allows me to learn and adapt to new situations and people quickly. Being very self-aware and confident with myself has allowed me to be more empathetic towards others and carry a positive outlook on life.

  1. How do you work best?

I work best in a relaxed environment. If I am alone, I prefer a quit coffee shop or study area with calm music to stay focused on the task in front of me. Being able to step away from any distractions is a must. If I am working with a group, I prefer a friendly and driven group of people that are able to be mature and helpful.

  1. What is your greatest area of improvement?

Getting past the initial mental wall of a task in front of me. For example I love climbing and working out, but my mind makes it seem like a difficult task that I don't want to do. Same goes for learning new things. But once I get myself over the mental block and into whatever the task is, I always end up enjoying it and usually succeed.

  1. How do you hope to maximize your strengths for your new career in software development?

I believe I have strong skill set that can be useful for a career in software development. I am able to bounce back from failure and setbacks easily, which are common in software development. Being level headed and avoiding letting a failure ruin my work flow will hopefully prove to be very helpful for programming. Pairin pointed out my strong sense of fairness and equality for others around me. I hope to be able to capitalize on that and be a key asset to any team I work with in the field.

  1. How might knowing about your strengths and working preferences benefit you as a software developer?

By knowing my strengths and prefernces I will be able to better put myself into situations I know I can benefit and work better in rather than getting stuck in less conducive environments. I also will better know what role I can play in group projects and classroom work. Knowing strengths also helps me to know my weaknesses and be able to work on those or ask for help instead of falling in a rut. Being a software developer, I feel you must be able to be verastile and able to adjust to many different setbacks and successes along your career path. Better knowing yourself will only help make the road less difficult.
