  1. Refine your career vision: What are the values that will drive your job search? What are your goals for your job search? What kind of role do you see yourself pursuing in your job search? Based on your latest version of your career vision, list the top 3-5 industries and companies you’ll pursue in your job search as of right now. Why did you pick these industries/companies? How do they relate to the values and goals you have for yourself in your job search?
  • I have a heart for the issue of human trafficking. I'd like to either be able to make enough to support efforts there or to actually work in a place that actively combatted that. I think I would like to look into working with Thorn which is a company that Ashton Kutcher founded. COVA is also a local company on this front and, whle they have no job postings, I'd like to reach out to them to start getting connected.

Week 1.

I'm a skeptical person and it takes a lot to convince me of something. I don't know how much I believe about studies that claim certain factors. I want to believe most people are altruistic but I know that it isn't true. I want to be a developer that treats everyone by what they objectively bring to the table in coding. I'm not perfect but I will constantly try to address anything that I personally do as I am a big advocate of personal responsibility.

Week 3.

I'm a white male. I'm not givin any consideration in discuassions like these unless I repeat what someone else has to say.

Data Types:

1. Strings

  • Strings are a way to imput direct text into coding so that the language doesn't try to see it as either a method ior a variable. This data type is indicated by the use of quotations or "" around the desired string.
  • For example booktitle = "The Way of Kings"

2. Integers/Floats

  • Integers are a data type that allows math to sink it's cruel claws into coding. Integers are calculable numbers in coding that forgo their decimals in favor of a more rounded and understandable variable. However, Floats take math an extra step by allowing a decimal point to be perceived and calculated on.
  • For example

1. What role does empathy play in your life and how has it helped you?

  • Empathy in the work place has always been a way to effectively communicate with clients. Taking ther time to understand where they are coming from as well as their struggles allowed for us to talk out reasonable expectations for the project that they put forward. Outside of the workplace, empathy has always served me well in my romantic relationships. My partner feeling understood and my ability to make changes in my own behaviour have gotten me through many fights and stumbling blocks.

2. How does empathy help you build better software?

  • Empathy can give good insight into what the client actually needs to do their job correctly. Without understanding someone's motives, it can be very difficult to make something that is truly user friendly. What is functional on paper isn't always the case when it comes to actually putting it into practice. I really liked the example of the air conditioner that was in one of the suggested arti
