How to connect to An API using Java

I have been having a problem with this code, gives me "class org.json.simple.JSONObject cannot be cast to class org.json.simple.JSONArray" at line 45. Ive been stuck on this for some time, any idea why it doesnt work for me. Im running the code as it is

JSONParser parser = new JSONParser();
Object obj = parser.parse(String.valueOf(informationString));
JSONArray array = new JSONArray();
array.add(obj);

            System.out.println(array.get(0));

            JSONObject jsonObject = (JSONObject) array.get(0);
            System.out.println(jsonObject.get("woeid"));
