How to recover lost Python source code if it's still resident in-memory

How to recover lost Python source code if it's still resident in-memory

I screwed up using git ("git checkout --" on the wrong file) and managed to delete the code I had just written... but it was still running in a process in a docker container. Here's how I got it back, using https://pypi.python.org/pypi/pyrasite/ and https://pypi.python.org/pypi/uncompyle6

Attach a shell to the docker container

Install GDB (needed by pyrasite)

apt-get update && apt-get install gdb

Future-proofing your Ember 1.x code

This post is also on my blog, since Gist doesn't support @ notifications.

Components are taking center stage in Ember 2.0. Here are some things you can do today to make the transition as smooth as possible:

  • Use Ember CLI
  • In general, replace views + controllers with components
  • Only use controllers at the top-level for receiving data from the route, and use Ember.Controller instead of Ember.ArrayController or Ember.ObjectController
  • Fetch data in your route, and set it as normal properties on your top-level controller. Export an Ember.Controller, otherwise a proxy will be generated. You can use Ember.RSVP.hash to simulate setting normal props on your controller.

* Usage:
* - save har file in chrome. make sure extension is .json, e.g. myrequests.json
* - put the relative path as the only parameter on the command line
* - redirect STDOUT to the file you want as the urllist for siege

Create ObjectIds in PostGres following the MongoDB semantics. Very similar to the Instagram approach linked below.http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/reference/object-id/http://instagram-engineering.tumblr.com/post/10853187575/sharding-ids-at-instagram

Give network superpowers to docker

Unionize: network superpowers for your docker containers

Unionize lets you connect together docker containers in arbitrarily complex scenarios.

Note: I recommend to use https://github.com/jpetazzo/pipework instead.

  • pipework is a better name than unionize
  • it's hosted on a "real" github repo instead of a small gist :-)

Now if you want Unionize, it's still here. Just check those examples.
