Installation von Nightscout auf einem Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Server (auf DigitalOcean oder MVPS)

Diese Übersetzuns ins Deutsche mag noch Fehler enthalten. Bitte verwenden Sie im Zweifelsfall die Englische Version. You can find this guide in English here

Warum?

  • Sie haben vollen SSH-Zugriff auf Ihren Server
  • Das Erstellen eines Servers dauert eine Minute
  • Ein Serverstandort in Deutschland ist möglich.
  • Sie können eine Sicherung / einen Snapshot des Servers erstellen, um ihn zu löschen und später wiederherzustellen (spart Geld, wenn Sie ihn eine Weile nicht benötigen).

Installing Nightscout on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server (on DigitalOcean or MVPS)

Installing Nightscout on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server (for instance on DigitalOcean or MVPS)

Why?

  • You have full SSH access to your server
  • Creating a server takes a minute
  • You can choose from various places on earth where the server should be located
  • You can make a backup / snapshot of the server in order to delete and later restore it (saves money if you don't need it for a while)
  • You pay per hour, the basis version at $5 (DigitalOcean) or or 3 EUR (MVPS) per month are sufficient for Nightscout
  • Loads of documentation on how to install things
  • Control and track the server via the DigitalOcean or MVPS control panel website or alternatively remote via ssh

Volkszaehler bei Strato installieren

Die folgende Anleitung orientiert sich im Wesentlichen an: https://wiki.volkszaehler.org/howto/installation_auf_webhoster_2

Hier gehe ich lediglich noch auf die Besonderheiten bei Strato ein und passe ein paar Schritte an.

Das Ganze gibt es auch als pdf zum Herunterladen.

Vorbereitung lokal

Am besten setzt man ein brandneues VZ-Image von https://wiki.volkszaehler.org/howto/raspberry_pi_image auf einer separaten SD-Karte und testet dieses auf einem Raspberry Pi im lokalen Netzwerk.
