Gran Turismo: The Kaizo Ironmon Challenge

This type of Challenge run is a racing game spin on the Kaizo Ironmon challenge in the Pokémon series. Originally, it is a Pokémon Randomizer Challenge run created by Iateyourpie. The idea is to provide a challenging and truly randomized experience that drives the player to the limit of their abilities. It will only allow a minimum of all options usually available to the player, while also punishing failure in more devestating ways than intended.

The Full Ruleset

Rule Details Notes
Randomize the Game Using the Spec II Mod, the Prize Car Randomizer needs to be enabled at the start of the game. As of writing this guide, the Spec II Mod is yet to be released, but a preview version of the Mod including the Randomizer can be used.
Only One Car in Garage Prior to beginning a race, you must ensure that only one car is present in your garage. If more than once car is present in your garage, you must sell all until only one car is left before entering the next race.
Prize Cars Only You may only use cars which you have obtained as prizes from events or license tests. You cannot buy any vehicle from any of the dealerships, including the used car dealers.
Only 1 Car Switch per Event You are only allowed to switch cars once after beating a full event, meaning all gold medals need to be obtained within an event before you are allowed to use another car. In Championships, only the Gold trophy for the entire event needs to be obtained. Skipping races is allowed.
6 Cars Total You may only use a total of 6 cars throughout the entire run.
Permadeath + Game Over Once you lose a race, the game is over and you must restart from a new save file from the beginning with newly randomized prize cars. This also applies to individual races within a Championship. Losing the final race in a championship, but still winning the championship is still counted as a loss and requires a reset.
No Restarts You are not allowed to restart any race once started. This also includes restarting via emulator save states.
One Shot Events In points-based events, you may skip races that aren't required for winning the championship. However, you cannot compete in any skipped races once the championship has concluded.
Limited Upgrade Shop You may only buy and apply one upgrade per won event.
Random Starter Upon completing the National B license, you may obtain between 1 - 3 prize cars depending on your performance. If you earn more than one prize car, you must choose your selected car at random. You can use https://www.random.org/lists/ to pick a car at random. Simply enter all of your prize cars into a list and hit "Randomize", then pick the first option.
No Race Cars You cannot use any race cars (which includes lower-class touring cars and drift cars). In the case that all of your National B prize cars are race cars, you may pick the car with the lowest horse power, but must pivot to the next non-race car you obtain from an event.
Horsepower Limit You may only use cars with less than 500 horsepower. Exceeding this limit via upgrades is allowed.
Stay in your weight class You are only allowed to pivot to another car if it doesn't have more than 100 horsepower than your current car.
No Dirty Driving Intentional bad driving in order to gain an advantage is not allowed. This includes: corner cutting, ramming, blocking on straights and wallriding.
Favorites Clause You may pick 3 favorite vehicles, which you can freely select as your starter car regardless of the "Random Starter" rule. Do note that they have to conform to all other rules in this list. You are however allowed to add 1 race car into your list, excluding the Formula GT.
No Grinding All races are only allowed to be entered once.
Banned Events You are not allowed to enter: Special Condition events, Driving Missions and Endurance events.
No Oil Changes Mid-Event Changing oil between races while competing in a championship is not allowed.
Don't Give Up Without a Fight You may not reset before the first race if you don't like the starter car. Resets are only allowed upon losing a race. You might be surprised how far you can go with what looks like a terrible starter.
Be a Responsible Car Owner You have to change oil and clean your starter car before entering the first race.
