Cold Outreach I:

  • Name of Mentor

    • "The mentor I contacted is Hongray Leung"
  • Position and Company

    • Hongray works for End Point Clinical and is their Lead Software Developer
  • Date of contact

    • "07/22/2017"
  • Outcome (i.e., did you get a response? If not, what is your follow-up plan? Did you meet? When? What was the result?)

Hongray has over 10 years of development experience, and is someone I've worked along side with. I reached out to him because he has remained in the development scene of San Francisco, which will provide me some insight into the tech community of SF if I chose to move back after graduating from Turing.

During our discussions, we talked about where he's at with his career, what my hopes and future plans are, and how he sees the current development scene in San Francisco shaping up. He also offered to look over my resume further on in the program.

  • How do you feel like this relationship will benefit you in your longterm professional development?

Because we've worked together, and have been friends for a while, I feel comfortable reaching out to Hongray for not only professional advice, but also more personal, or relationship advice. I see my relationship growing with Hongray, and feel he will be a valuable asset if/when I decide to move back to the Bay Area. Given his lead developer status, I feel confident that he will have valuable advice and feedback when it comes time for job searching/applying.
