Similar to how Alt+Tab cycles applications in Windows, this plugin can be used to cycle recently used materials in SketchUp.

Setup

Unfortunately Eneroth Material Memory requires shortcuts to be manually set up before being functional.

  1. Open the shortcut settings window (Window > Preferences > Shortcuts).
  2. Set up a shortcut, e.g. Ctrl+B, pointing to Extensions > Eneroth Material Memory > Cycle Materials.
  3. Optionally, set up the corresponding shortcut but also including Shift for cycling backwards.
  4. If you use another modifier key than Ctrl (Command on Mac), go to Extensions > Eneroth Material Memory > Set Modifier Key and select that key.

Issues/Limitations

The Extension doesn't show previews of textures. Instead a schematic preview with a checker pattern is used for all materials with textures (install the trial to test for yourself what it looks like).

Materials are only added to the stack if they exist in the model. Simply clicking some different materials in the material browser wont added them to the stack. To add a material from the library to the stack, you need to paint it onto the model somewhere, e.g. to a temporary face.
