"If patients are treated in another country, their local physician that is administering the phage therapy has to apply through their regulatory agency in their country (comparable to our FDA) to obtain permission to treat with phages. This can be a lengthy process at times. Shipping of the phages can be difficult as well, as the proper permits and packaging is needed. This is why we think it would be best to reach out to the Belgium team first."

We have never used phages from Georgia on my husband Tom or any of our patients as they are not purified or sequenced and their endotoxin levels are unknown. We source phages from various sources in the US and internationally for patients who will meet FDA requirements on  case by case basis."
