* The fans are really quite noisy, these are a lot quieter and theright size: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0083A0BY4 (other fans are available)
* A borosilicate glass print bed held on with binder clips means you get a lovely flat print surface, you may want to use a thin layer of pritt stick to help adhesion
* Stepper dampers make a HUGE difference to noise transmitted to the frame from the steppers, but _only_ install them on the X and Y axis or you'll get filament slipping: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SIQUK-Stepper-Vibration-Dampers-Printer/dp/B07F9JTZJ4
I would recommend you only install those after you've had the ender 3 running to see how noisy it is, it might be tolerable enough without them, but they really do make a massive difference
* Stick some acoustifeet on the bottom to stop your desk/table being turned into a resonator and being able to hear the thing in the next room: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00Y3OXQP0
The big one:
* Fit a BLTouch for auto-levelling. It is absolutely life changing in terms of making the printer Just Work. Make sure you get a _genuine_ BLTouch and not a clone, as the clones have extremely variable accuracy (ask me how I know). It's a mild pain to fit but ABSOLUTELY worth it. Note: Make sure you enable RESTORE_LEVELING_AFTER_G28 in the firmware or it does absolutely nothing useful and nobody tells you that.
* Other things:
* Upgrading to a 32bit mainboard is probably worth it in the long run it means you get Marlin 2.0 compatability (the firmware) and lets you turn on ALL the shiny features. It also enables sensorless homing so you can remove all the fiddly switches from the frame. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0882QGFZR
Oh, and install Octoprint on a Pi and use that to manage the printer. It makes working with it a lot less annoying.
I have extensive firmware reckons too, which you may care about if you decide to flash it with an up-to-date version of Marlin (you should)
The short version is: The fans are terrible, replace them. Get a BLTouch.
