Instructions

How to divvy up the work

Note

You may also add events from hosts that are not listed here.

  1. Go to the Hard.Dance > About page & expand the The hosts we check expandable block.
  2. Pick any host and open their Facebook page. Confirm on the Hard.Dance Discord > Data entry channel that nobody else has already started work on that host to avoid duplicating work. Also check the Hard.Dance homepage because some events have already been added.
  3. On Facebook, select the More dropdown menu button and then select Events.
  4. Select the first upcoming event & then proceed to the doing the work section below.

Doing the work

Note

You may not be able to find some information such as age. If you can't find it, just leave the line blank.

  1. On the template.md file click the RAW button and copy / paste it into your text editor.
    • On macOS you can use the built-in TextEdit app.
    • On Windows you can use the built-in ??? app. Do not use Microsoft Word.
  2. Keep the text editor on one side of your screen and the Facebook Event page on the other side of your screen.
  3. Start filling out the template file, detailed instructions below. If a line of text is not mentioned below, do not change it.
    • title: the name of the event. If it is a yearly event, include the year. Do not include taglines. Example: The Qontinent 2024 The Final Edition
    • date: the date that the event was announced. I've been going to the Discussions tab on the Facebook Event page and scrolling to the bottom of the page which shows when the event was first published.
    • datestart: the date that the event starts, no need to include time as of right now.
    • dateend: OPTIONAL the date the event ends if it is a multiday festival. If it is a single day, you can delete this line.
    • location: the address of the event. Be sure to include the country at the very end.
    • type: you can choose from 4 options: festival, arena, club, underground.
    • genre: this will likely be changed in the near future, but for now you can only pick one genre. Make your best choice even if it is multi-genre.
    • age: the minimum age with a trailing plus symbol.
    • hosts: enter as many hosts as necessary, each host on a new line. See The Qontinent example for how to list more than 1 host.
    • links: do not change the title, but please add the URL for buying tickets and the Facebook event page.
    • image: where it shows _____ in the template file, type the same info as title but in all lowercase and replace spaces & symbols with a single -.
  4. Save the text file in this format: {{ datestart }}-{{ title }}.md. See The Qontinent example: 2024-08-09-the-qontinent-2024.md.
  5. Save the banner image from the Facebook Event page & name it the same as you did in image.

Rinse & repeat! When you're done with multiple you can put them in a ZIP file and send them in our Hard.Dance Discord > Data entry channel.
