While the old Modernity continutes as Nature's Debris, there are new ideas for the new Modernity: I describe them in this document.
The Modernity is a weird and remote dimension never really known by anyone as it was kept a secret by the endermen. But the secret slowly leaked out as things started to go wrong in the overworld. The dimension became known to humanity and eventually it became possible to open a portal into the dimension.
Once stepped through the portal, one will encounter strange flora and fauna in a dark, underground world. The world is inhabited by strange creatures and plants in various colors, glowing or not. It is controlled by strange and seemingly unnatural mechanics, but everything is natural and rules life in the dimension. For the player to survive in the world, the player needs to get up with the strange mechanics of the world.
The environment shows up as dark with a few lights, obscured by a dense, dark-blue fog. The view range isn't far and danger can hide in a small corner. One can discover countless different biomes, varying from flat and open biomes to strange-shaped and densely overgrown biomes. Biomes can vary in foliage color, terrain shape, features, population and the dangers they hide. One can find high and dense forest of weirdly shaped and colored trees, or flat plains of only stone - many factors can be blended to create biomes.
To get up in the Modernity, a player needs to get up with its mechanics, and learn that the mechanics that work in the overworld may not work in the Modernity. Simple things like torches will not work and the player needs another way to get light, which can be hard to obtain. One will need to use the power of ender without the use of ender pearls, and learn to get up with the local language of the endermen which varies in each created world: endermen are no longer an enemy. To progress through the dimension one will need to build strange computer-like structures and use them to gain power and protection against enemies.
The Modernity is inhabited by several weird plants and creatures. The current ideas are listed below.
The iguanum tree is a common tree with various foliage colors. It has a grey log and grows small spherical formations of colored leaves. They can appear in various sizes, from small bushes to tall trees with many branches.
A large, dark blue mushroom growing in barren places. Its cap contains small, glowing clumps called 'Tuxu Lights', these are ideal for a small and simple light source. It' spores can poisonous and players should be careful when getting resources from this fungus.
Kumo is a vine-like plant that grows from the ceiling, making long wires. It comes in several colors and as a resource its pretty useless. They just function to decorate the environment.
Nustrigers are the main enemy in the Modernity. Their species was formed from a mixture of the enderman species and a few others, creating a mad and unstable mob that bothers both players and endermen.
The Modernity introduces a few strange resources. The current ideas are listed below:
A strange and viscous fluid mainly found in the Modernity, like water in the overworld: it comes in big lakes and rivers. It has a dark-red color, making it look as disgusting as blood while not being that (hence the name: 'Veri' is finnish for 'Blood'). Its red color stands out against the environment, which is mostly blue-tinged. As this fluid is more viscous than water, mobs that try to swim in it get slowed down more than in water and the fluid only flows six blocks far.
The common stone type in the Modernity. Has a black or dark-blue texture.
Some terms that will probably appear in the Modernity but which don't have any meaning or idea yet.
- Drone (probably a mob)
- Plasma screen
- Electronifier
- Transport lines (see Pixar's Wall-E)
