*know yourself
*check yourself
*ask yourself "what do I *really* want?"

Learn to Look
*'see' what people are saying with more than just their words
*ask, why would a caring person do that?

Make it safe
*if the other parties involved don't feel they can safely contribute to the dialogue, then it isn't a dialogue.
